Introduction:

Maya J. was a 22 year old woman who lived with her parents and worked as a waitress in a beach bar/restaurant. On July 23, the Maya’s nude body was found in the Indian River, near the shoreline, by a homeowner whose backyard included that section of the shoreline. The victim’s hands and feet were bound together with a  rope which had an unusual double-diamond pattern. Two torn plastic bags were attached to her feet by a rubber cord of the type used to install screens. The victim had white duct tape on her head and neck.
